Applications are being accepted for a part-time Non-Traditional Occupations Specialist at Moraine Park Technical College, Fond du Lac campus. This position provides a variety of support services and recruits students to non-traditional occupations programs throughout the District. The school year hours of this position are Monday and Wednesday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.; for a total of 30 hours per week. The summer hours of this position are Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; for a total of 30 hours per week. This position works 50 weeks per year. This is a limited term position partially funded by Carl D. Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act funding.

Characteristic Duties / Responsibilities:
  1. Establish relationships with non-traditional students to help promote student success and retention.
  2. Serve as a liaison between non-traditional students and instructional staff, support services staff and community resources.
  3. Meet with students as requested. Refer students to appropriate Moraine Park and/or community resources as needed.
  4. Enhance communication with non-traditional studies students (electronic, standard mail, phone, face-to-face, student focus groups). Prepare, update and disseminate information to ensure awareness of the services provided by the project. Develop materials such as a brochure to aid in recruitment of non-traditional studies students.
  5. Generate out-of-class learning support activities for non-traditional studies students. Activities may include establishing course study groups and/or assistance with identification of peer tutors. Provide one-on-one learning support to non-traditional and developmental studies students in their coursework in a variety of academic settings.
  6. Collaborate with Outreach Specialists to assist with recruitment of non-traditional occupations students including high school workshops and activities.
  7. Maintain reporting records as needed for mid- and year-end reports. Compile required reports including monthly time and efforts reports for grant tracking.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  1. Strong verbal and written communications skills. Strong math skills.
  2. Knowledge and understanding of barriers to college success and strategies to overcome them.
  3. Strong interpersonal skills.
  4. Ability to maintain accurate records and create reports.
  5. Computer skills, including MS Office Suite and the Internet. Experience with an ERP administrative system preferred.
  6. Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple projects effectively and work independently.
  7. Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver's license.
  8. Willingness to travel between the three MPTC campuses.


Training and Experience:

1. Associate's degree in a related field required; Bachelor's degree in education or human services preferred.
2. Two years of work experience in post-secondary education or human services preferred.
3. Any combination of equivlaent training and experience which provides desired knowledge, skills and abilities.

Wage Grade: 92 Pay Rate: $17.51 Hourly
