JOB POSTING/TITLE: Student Support Representative

Applications are being accepted for a part-time Student Support Representative at Moraine Park Technical College, West Bend campus. This position provides admissions, registration, records and financial aid information and customer service to students. The school year hours of this position are Monday 12:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday through Thursday 1:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.; for a total of 16 hours per week. The summer hours of this position are Monday 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday through Thursday 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.; for a total of 16 hours per week. Schedule flexibility and some irregular hours, including evenings and Fridays, may be required. This position works 52 weeks per year.

Characteristic Duties / Responsibilities:
  1. Greet internal and external customers as they enter the Student Services area. Provide general college information and assistance to current and prospective students.
  2. Provide information about and explain admissions, registration, records and financial aid processes. Process admissions, registration and financial aid student requests. Provide assistance to students utilizing Student Self-Service.
  3. Evaluate customer requests, research answers to questions and follow-up with customers as appropriate.
  4. Register students. Validate, collect and process fees and payments. Process adds, drops, withdrawals, deposits and overrides. Close and reconcile cashiering sessions.
  5. Schedule appointments and make referrals for students with appropriate staff and services as needed.
  6. Work in coordination with Information Processors, Student Support Representatives and Specialists to respond to and process student requests.
  7. Gather prospective and current student information and create and update electronic files in accordance with the College data standards. Work with Information Processors to maintain accurate student information.
  8. Serve as a backup to Student Support Representative and Information Processing staff as needed. Work on special projects as needed.
  9. Train temporary employees and work-study students. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  1. Strong verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, students and the general public.
  2. Ability to analyze situations and think critically.
  3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  4. Ability to work independently, handle multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Extensive customer service experience.
  6. Working knowledge of computer hardware and software. Experience with Banner or other student administration systems, MS Office, Lotus Notes and the Internet preferred.
  7. Knowledge of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) preferred.





Training and Experience:
  1. Associate degree in a related field.
  2. Two years of related experience. Face-to-face customer service experience preferred.
  3. Experience working in an educational setting preferred.
  4. Any combination of equivalent training and experience which provides desired knowledge, skills and abilities.


Wage Grade: 90 Pay Rate: $15.41 Hourly
