Applications are being accepted for a full-time Counselor at Moraine Park Technical College, Fond du Lac campus. Using Moraine Park's Guiding Principles, this position is responsible for the delivery of guidance counseling services in support of the Student Retention and Learning Support processes. Hours of assignment will include evenings. Travel to other campuses may be required. This person reports to the Enrollment Management & Banner Project Partner.

Beginning Date: Immediately

Characteristic Duties / Responsibilities:
  1. Provide crisis, academic and personal counseling through the use of interviews, test interpretations and other professional counseling techniques.
  2. Build professional counseling relationships with individuals from widely diverse backgrounds.
  3. Assist individuals' progress towards their educational goal attainment.
  4. Establish and maintain good working relationships in support of a student's success.
  5. Participate in work team meetings, collaborative activities and partnerships across the College for student success.
  6. Employ knowledge of the WTCS resources, Moraine Park programs and community referral resources.

Essential Skills & Knowledge:
  1. Knowledge of professional counseling strategies used to help post-secondary students establish goals, clarify values, resolve conflicts and address personal issues which may interfere with educational success.
  2. Demonstrated professional expertise in interpretation of tests/assessments as they relate to student success, career choice, academic placement and retention.
  3. Ability to use technology as a tool in counseling.
  4. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications:
  1. Master's Degree in counseling or guidance and counseling.
  2. Two years experience working with students in an educational setting preferred.
  3. Two years occupational experience in a field other than teaching.
  4. Must meet the Counselor certification requirements established by the Wisconsin Technical College System Board.

Salary Range: 178 - Day Salary Schedule for 2009-10 (Based on a 178-day contract, salary range is $43,702 - $60,883 for a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and appropriate experience. The salary range is $49,893 - $60,883 for a Master's Degree and appropriate experience.)
